GENERAL ACCESS
All containers / Layouts, pages, and other content on your website are, by default, public: everybody can read everything.
The exception is Calendars - Event Details are always set to Private unless the Administrator has changed this setting for you. Meaning, anybody can see there is an Event, but must sign in to read details.
Who owns what on your site depends on permissions determined by the Site Owner. These can be adjusted individually for each Layout on the website, but initially, anyone that is a Site Owner has write access to everything, all Page Owners have write access to their own, personal pages, and the public has read access to everything.
- Site Owner: anyone that can sign into and edit the Website Root
- Page Owner: anyone that is granted ownership to a particular area by the Site Owner
Your Administrator can help you fine-tune or reconfigure these settings.
THE INBOX
Think of the website InBox as a very public, but invisible folder. It is open to the web so that visitors can post to it, and is the recipient of all Response Forms you create on your website.
For security purposes, it is initially configured so that nobody can read it. If you allow somebody to tinker with it, this may no longer hold true, and your inbound messages could potentially be readable by anybody that knows its URL. If you have questions or concerns about the Website InBox, please contact your Administrator or FirstMagic Support.
BACKUPS
Backup routines will be determined by the Administrator.
It is possible to set up versioning - continuous backup - for single pages or whole areas of your website, that you can maintain yourself, and you can also export content manually. To learn more about these options, visit FirstMagic Support or discuss with your Administrator.
