Runar
Thorvaldsen started out as a graphics designer in the mid 1980s. After a
couple of years of hand-lettering comic books, illustrating crossword
magazines and in general being a darkroom drone, he went into the
advertising industry, became an Art Director, and spent most of the
nineties doing creative work for clients like Warner Bros., Warner Home
Video, Sandrew Metronome, Egmont, Bonnier...
Runar started messing
with HTML early on, and designed his first web page - for a radio station
- in 1994. He jumped enthusiastically into the Dot-Com Wave and became a
full-time web developer just in time for the Y2k bug. Over the years, he
has been involved with designing interfaces for the IST Group´s Learning
Platforms, and has built web portals and sites for clients ranging from
The Ministry of Justice and the Norwegian Mail Service to towns, schools,
universities and many, many smaller clients from the private sector in
Scandinavia and North America.
Runar is the main developer behind
FirstMagic - the FirstClass CMS - and always tries to make it do new and
interesting things. He is also very happy that the world has moved on from
typesetting with lead (which was the first thing he learned at school), to
web publishing.
